“At the Central School of Art I had the good fortune to meet the artist David Haughton, one of the founder members of the St. Ives Colony of artists and in 1975 -76 I stayed with Haughton and a group of students in a cottage in Kelynack near St. Just. This was a major turning point in my life. After college I continued to paint and draw and in 1979 I visited Cornwall, where I started very detailed drawings of Kelynack, near St Just in Penwith, West Cornwall. These drawings I later used as a resource for the Kelynack Triptych which I actually worked on back in my studio in Muswell Hill, North London.”
